Just finished testing the game. Loved the music, gave off the perfect vibe for the atmosphere. The other sounds of nature were good as well. Made it to about the 600m mark. The fireflies add a nice feeling to the game as well. I know one commend said that the trees can possible get in the way, but personally I am ok with this as it does add some risk and reward for diving down and potentially missing the mice or rabbit and you have to be precise with where you are going if the trees now obstruct your view. Really liked the perch aspect of the game, and giving players the opportunity to bail out and refueling. Sprites are good for the time being, the mouse one makes me laugh of course. If ever expanded upon, would like to see more fluidity of the owl flapping and maybe some movement on the critters. Overall, solid game, can see why y'all won game jam with this, great idea, well executed.
In the current version of the game that was just uploaded, I really struggle to get past 500m, so 600m is really impressive!!! Thank you for the feedback, we had a fun and challenging time concepting a game around the theme of "night owl".
Well done! Simple to understand and easy to control, but definitely gets much harder after about the 300m mark. Only notes I would have is that the trees in the foreground are sometimes very hard to see through, it's a great artistic choice but it makes getting some of the ground critters very risky. Overall great work. Is this a studio project, jam game, or hobby project?
Hey Noah. Thank you for the feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed it! This was our submission for the 2024 KSU Summer Game Jam where we won 1st place. We're working on improving the visibility problems mentioned along with adding some extra challenges to the game
Dang man good stuff on getting 1st place! That's huge, I honestly didn't realize there was a Summer Game Jam at KSU, wish I had taken part lol. Sounds good, glad you're still creating killer games.
It's really a challenge to fit the game jams in, but they're so rewarding when they go well! The Summer GJ is usually mid to late July, but it happened a little later this year. I hope to see you at the Fall GJ in November!
Yeah, I might just join in that one for sure!
